South Korean workers challenge U.S. government actions after Georgia raid
More than 300 workers from South Korea who were detained during an immigration raid at a Hyundai facility in the state of Georgia are challenging the actions of the U.S. government. This was reported by The Korea Herald, citing CNN.
Claims against nine agencies
A lawyer representing the claimants told CNN that administrative claims have begun to be filed on behalf of the workers against nine U.S. federal agencies. This procedure is a mandatory step before a possible lawsuit in federal court.
Agencies named as subjects of the claims include the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, the FBI, as well as the Departments of Justice and Labor.

Raid at battery facility
U.S. authorities detained hundreds of workers, most of whom were South Korean citizens, during a raid in September 2025. The operation involved a battery manufacturing facility in Georgia operated through a joint venture between Hyundai and South Korea's LG Energy Solution.
A U.S. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told Reuters that ICE Homeland Security Investigations, together with other law enforcement agencies, executed a judicial search warrant as part of a criminal investigation into alleged unlawful labor practices and other serious federal crimes. The spokesperson did not comment directly on the challenge reported by CNN.
According to a source, the raid was described as the largest U.S. Department of Homeland Security operation at a single site. Photos and videos showed detained workers in restraints on their wrists, waists and ankles. Their phones were also confiscated, leaving some unable to notify their families until they were released.
