British Prime Minister Ready to Resign – Daily Mail

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has told his inner circle of his intention to resign and announce a timeline for his departure from office following Labour’s defeat in the local elections. Members of the government note that the Prime Minister is aware of the political reality and the instability of the current chaos, seeking to end his term with dignity.

This is reported by the Daily Mail.

Some high-ranking allies, including former Chief of Staff Morgan McSweeney, are urging Starmer to refrain from making premature statements and to wait for the results of the by-election in Makerfield and the latest opinion polls. They are urging the leader to keep fighting, believing he still has a chance to retain the leadership. At the same time, other supporters of the head of government note that Starmer does not plan to take risks or drag out the process while awaiting the results of the vote.

On May 12, another junior member of the British government resigned and called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to step down as leader of the Labour Party. The decision was made after the party suffered electoral losses in last week’s elections.

Already, 41 Labour Party MPs have publicly called on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to step down as party leader.

Earlier, Starmer spoke of growing tensions in relations with the U.S.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during which they discussed increasing pressure on the aggressor. The leaders paid particular attention to the fight against the Russian shadow fleet and London’s contributions to the PURL program to strengthen the Ukrainian army.
