Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at an expanded session of the BRICS leaders' summit in New Delhi that countries of the Global South increasingly trust the association. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.

Cooperation with Global South countries

According to Modi, BRICS has sought to promote inclusive global growth. He noted that the benefits of decisions developed within the association should not be limited solely to its members, but should be adapted and accessible in line with the needs of the Global South.

The Indian prime minister said that the voice of Global South countries is heard in BRICS, their experience is respected, and solutions for them are developed jointly with them.

Summit in New Delhi

Modi spoke at a session devoted to resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainable development. He linked the need to strengthen resilience to the pandemic, climate disasters and supply chain disruptions, stressing that in an interconnected world, crises are not limited to one area.

The annual BRICS summit has been underway in the Indian capital since Saturday, with the participation of leaders of the association's member states and partner countries. Participants include the presidents of China, the Russian Federation — an aggressor state — and Iran. Modi called the number of participating countries evidence of BRICS' growing influence, attractiveness and trust.
