The Spanish Prime Minister Denied Allegations of Corruption Within His Family and Party

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, during a speech before the Congress of Deputies, denied allegations of corruption and illegal financing within the Socialist Party, which he leads. He emphasized that he had never been aware of such practices and would never tolerate them within his political party.

Sánchez devoted part of his 32-minute speech to cases of abuse of office involving his wife, Begonia Gomez, and his brother, David Sánchez. The prime minister expressed absolute confidence in their innocence and called these cases a persecution scheme based on unfounded accusations. He also noted that the leaks were orchestrated by political figures seeking to confuse the public by conflating issues related to the “Coldo” case.

This was reported by Euronews.

A Spanish court has barred Prime Minister Sánchez’s wife from leaving the country in connection with a corruption case.

Former Spanish Prime Minister Zapatero is suspected of influence peddling, according to Reuters.
