In Poland, two trains derailed after a collision

In the Greater Poland Voivodeship of Poland, two passenger trains collided, one of which was a high-speed “Intercity” train. As a result of the incident, several cars derailed, and train service on that section of the railway was temporarily suspended.

The collision occurred in the municipality of Białosławie at the station of the same name when, according to preliminary reports, a Polregio regional train and a PKP Intercity intercity train found themselves on the same section of track and collided under circumstances that remain unclear. Emergency responders were notified of the incident around 6:00 p.m., after which firefighters and emergency services immediately began arriving at the scene.

Martin Halash, a spokesperson for the Poznań Regional Directorate of the State Fire Service, confirmed the collision and noted that as a result of the impact, some cars from both trains derailed, creating a challenging situation for rescue workers. According to him, there are reports of two injured passengers who have received medical attention, while the other passengers are currently being examined by medical and security personnel.

At least six firefighting units are working at the scene, with additional forces continuing to arrive as the inspection of the damaged cars and the evacuation of people are underway. The exact number of passengers on both trains is still being determined, and there is currently no information regarding fatalities.

PKP PLK spokesperson Bartosz Pietrzykowski clarified that the collision involved trains on the Pila–Bydgoszcz and Bialogard–Warsaw routes, resulting in a complete halt of traffic on this railway line. The causes of the incident have not yet been officially disclosed; they are being investigated by investigators and railway safety authorities. This was reported by Polsat News.
