Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24. At the same time, protests against his participation in the meeting of world leaders were taking place near UN headquarters.

Protests near UN headquarters

According to the Jerusalem Post, New York police detained several protesters for disorderly conduct near UN headquarters. Walla reported that actress Susan Sarandon was among those detained; the Jerusalem Post describes her as an anti-Zionist.

Before the Israeli prime minister's address at the UN, he and his wife Sara were greeted by Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon.

Meetings with the leaders of Greece and Slovenia

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, Netanyahu held a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The Israeli prime minister's office said the sides discussed regional developments, energy cooperation, and preparations for the next trilateral summit involving Cyprus.

Netanyahu also met with Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša. According to his office, he thanked the Slovenian leader for opening the Israeli embassy in Ljubljana and invited him to visit Israel.
