Swedish PM calls for official’s dismissal over pro-Russian posts
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that a representative of the Sweden Democrats party, who is accused of spreading pro-Russian information, should be dismissed if the allegations are confirmed. He stressed that there is no place in Sweden for pro-Russian narratives, especially during a European war.
Investigation into the posts
As The Local Sweden reports, the anti-racist magazine Expo found that a woman who moved from Russia to Sweden in 2006 shared materials from Russian state structures of the aggressor state between 2015 and 2017, including the state-controlled media outlet RT. She also published materials from other channels known for spreading Russian propaganda and disinformation.
According to Expo, the official also posted on social media a song in honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin, with heart emojis and a caption about people singing of their love for the president. The publication claims that she continued to share pro-Russian content in 2024 and 2025. According to Expo, the woman lives with one of the senior officials of the Sweden Democrats, who works in government offices and was among the authors of the Tidö coalition agreement.

Reaction from the authorities and the party
Kristersson told the newspaper Aftonbladet that people who spread pro-Russian narratives cannot work in Sweden’s parliament. Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson told SVT that, to his knowledge, the party had not been aware of the situation. According to him, the official is currently not working and will remain away from work for some time.
The party’s press service previously told the TT agency that the woman had publicly and sharply criticized the Russian regime in recent years and is on parental leave. Social Democratic Party justice spokesperson Teresa Carvalho called the allegations a “security crisis” until proven otherwise and urged the prime minister to establish all the circumstances.
