Jerusalem Post publishes Rosh Hashanah wine guide in Israel
In Israel, ahead of Rosh Hashanah, a selection of local wines for the holiday table was published, divided into price categories—from bottles costing up to 50 shekels to options priced at more than 150 shekels. Review author Adam Montefiore noted that the holiday is one of the peak periods of the year for wine purchases, alongside Passover.
As the Jerusalem Post reports, in the category of up to 50 shekels, the author recommends the semi-dry Hayotzer Sketch Gewurztraminer 2024 from the Lower Galilee and Barkan Gold Cabernet Sauvignon 2024. Montefiore describes the latter wine as light, fruity, expressive and easy-drinking, and advises serving it chilled.
Wines from 51 to 99 shekels
This category includes Gamla Sauvignon Blanc 2025 from Golan Heights Winery, Recanati Galilee Vineyards Chardonnay 2024, Galil Rose 2025 and Dalton Estate Rose 2025. Galil Rose is made from Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, while Dalton Estate Rose is made from Shiraz with Grenache, Mourvèdre and Barbera added.
Among other wines in this group, the author named Tulip Petite Sirah, the Zion Capital Lions Gate 2024 blend of Marselan, Grenache and Caladoc, as well as the dessert wine Teperberg Inspire Gewurztraminer 2024. He recommends serving the latter very chilled—with traditional Rosh Hashanah appetizers, fruit desserts or blue cheeses.

In the 100-to-149-shekel segment, the list includes Scoria Tel Phares Vineyard Bashan 2025, 1848 Winery Orient White 2025, Binyamina Shoham Chardonnay 2025, Ramat Negev Exodus White 2025 and Yatir Mt. Amasa Rose 2025. Montefiore also recommends Amphorae Terroir Capsouto Field Blend 2023 and Netofa Masei Gamay Noir 2025, which he advises chilling before serving.
In the same price category, the author highlighted Tabor Artisanal Creation Syrah 2023, Carmel Signature Govrin Vineyard Petite Sirah 2022, Jezreel Valley Old Vines Carignan 2024 and Jerusalem Vineyard Winery Windmill Project Petit Verdot 2021.
Among wines priced from 150 shekels, Montefiore named Tzuba Metzuda 2022—a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend with Merlot and Shiraz—Vitkin Grenache Noir Collector's Edition 2024, Benhaim Cabernet Franc Reserve 2022, Bat Shlomo-Assaf Granit Alef After Dark 2024 and Hevron Heights Special Reserve 2018. The latter is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz; the author noted that bottle aging softened its style.
