Finnish President Alexander Stubb will attend Senator Lindsey Graham's funeral in the United States
Finnish President Alexander Stubb will travel to Washington on July 28 to attend the funeral service for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. The Finnish leader’s visit will take place as part of the events honoring the politician’s memory.
On Tuesday, July 28, Stubb will attend the state funeral service, which will be held at the National Cathedral in Washington.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham played a key role in the “golf diplomacy” between Finnish President Stubb and U.S. President Donald Trump. It was Graham who suggested that Stubb play golf with Trump after a meeting in Munich last February.
During a joint round of golf in March 2025, which took place in the U.S. with Graham in attendance, Stubb and Trump discussed, among other things, Ukraine.

Earlier, the Finnish president noted the strengthening of Ukraine’s position.
As a reminder, during a face-to-face meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed suspending hostilities in Ukraine and returning to the negotiation process based on the 2022 Istanbul agreements.
