The number of foreign tourists visiting Russia has fallen to its lowest level in five years

Russia recorded its lowest number of foreign tourists in the past five years. This was due to regular drone attacks, temporary airport closures, and fuel shortages. Between January and June 2026, 2.99 million foreign tourists visited the country, which is nearly 20% fewer than during the same period last year.

According to Rosstat, this figure is the lowest in the past five years. Sergey Romashkin, vice president of the Association of Russian Tour Operators, also reported a decline in inbound tourist traffic and noted that the decline only intensified over the summer.

Russian tourists are turning away from vacations in Sochi en masse due to drone attacks.

As a reminder, the “golden city” of Bodaybo in the Russian Federation was left without heating due to another utility failure.

Additionally, authorities in the Russian Federation are forecasting the closure of hundreds of thousands of cafes due to rising taxes.
