President Mahama appoints acting Director-General of the Value for Money Office
Ghanaian President John Mahama has appointed Dr. Abdul-Baasit Aziz-Bamba as acting Director-General of the Value for Money Office. The Presidential Administration announced this on September 8, 2026.
Legal basis for the appointment
As MyJoyOnline reports, the appointment was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and Section 14(1) of the Value for Money Office Act, 2026 — Act 1172.
Aziz-Bamba will serve as head on an acting basis until the constitutionally required recommendation of the governing board is received. The board is to provide this recommendation after consultations with the Public Services Commission.

Official’s experience
Before the appointment, Dr. Abdul-Baasit Aziz-Bamba worked as a senior lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law. According to the publication, he is a Harvard-trained lawyer.
