Thailand summons Israeli ambassador over tourists’ behavior
Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow summoned Israeli Ambassador Alona Fisher-Kamm for a meeting in Bangkok amid a series of incidents involving Israelis in the country. After the talks, the minister said that Thailand welcomes tourists, but visitors of any nationality cannot do whatever they want in the country.

According to Phuangketkeow, incidents involving some foreign visitors have hurt the feelings of Thais, local culture and way of life, particularly in the Phuket and Phang Nga areas. The Thai government believes that Israel should take more substantial measures in connection with this problem, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Proposal for travelers
Before the meeting, it was reported that Fisher-Kamm planned to raise the issue of growing hostility toward Israelis and Jews in Thailand, as well as discuss bilateral relations. During the talks, she acknowledged concerns regarding the behavior of some Israelis and proposed preparing a document with behavioral recommendations for Israeli travelers.

A protest is also scheduled for September 10 near the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok as part of a campaign against so-called gray foreign capital and businesses that, according to the organizers, operate through Thai nominees. The organizers mentioned the activities of Israelis in Thailand alongside citizens of China, Russia and other countries.
