Putin is repeating the mistakes of Nazi Germany by bombing Ukrainian cities, says Sikorsky
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is making the same mistake that Nazi Germany made in its time by bombing cities.
Sikorski recalled Nazi Germany’s use of V2 ballistic missiles against London. According to him, the first such missiles were launched at the British capital in November 1944. About 10,000 people died as a result of the attacks, but Germany ultimately lost the war.
“I believe that Putin is making the same mistake that the Third Reich made when it bombed London,” Sikorski said.
The Polish minister explained what, in his opinion, is the Kremlin’s main mistake.
“First, when they strike a city and kill 2–12 people a day, it in no way affects the Ukrainian army’s ability to defend the Donbas,” Sikorski noted.
At the same time, he suggested that Russia may be pursuing a different goal—trying to undermine confidence in the Ukrainian government and its legitimacy.
According to Sikorsky, Moscow may be counting on the fact that constant strikes on Ukrainian cities will intimidate the population and influence its attitude toward the country’s political leadership.
“The Russians may believe that this will intimidate the population and limit its influence on the political leadership. The Germans counted on this when they bombed either Coventry or London. The Allies also counted on this to some extent when they bombed Hamburg, Berlin, or Dresden. And in both cases, it proved counterproductive. When people are attacked, they rally around their government,” the minister believes.
Thus, Sikorski believes that Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities may have the opposite effect of what the Kremlin expects—rather than weakening Ukrainian society, they will, on the contrary, consolidate it around the government and the country’s defense.
The Polish foreign minister made these remarks during an appearance on Polsat News.
In Moscow, the Kremlin of Russia—the aggressor state—stated that U.S. President Donald Trump, during a phone call with Vladimir Putin, emphasized the need to end the war against Ukraine as soon as possible. According to the Kremlin, Trump linked this to the prospect of a full restoration of relations between the U.S. and Russia.

What’s more, Ukraine has already offered Russia similar types of truces many times—that Ukraine would refrain from deep strikes against Russia, provided that Russia would do the same. But Moscow has refused every single time. Every single time.
