President Herzog criticizes British sanctions on settlements
Israeli President Isaac Herzog criticized the United Kingdom’s sanctions on settlements in the West Bank, calling them a “serious miscalculation,” interference in the democratic elections of a sovereign state, and a decision that “will end up on the wrong side of history.” This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.
According to Herzog, sanctions are not a solution, and foreign governments should abandon sanctions and boycotts in favor of constructive dialogue and cooperation. He also stated that such restrictions, in his view, would directly harm Palestinians by depriving them of business and employment opportunities.
Calls for a response to London
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said that he had asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to close the British consulate in East Jerusalem. According to him, the institution openly operates in the interests of the Palestinian Authority.

Ben-Gvir also called on Israel to recognize Argentina’s sovereignty over the Malvinas, or Falkland Islands, and impose sanctions on the United Kingdom while, as he claims, the occupation of the islands continues.
Other officials’ statements
Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Aryeh King called for the closure of the British diplomatic presence at 80 Nablus Road and 15 Rajeib Nashashibi Street in Jerusalem. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, in turn, advocated expelling the British ambassador.
