Pakistan’s president and prime minister honor Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s memory
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif honored the memory of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, known as Quaid-i-Azam, on the 78th anniversary of his death on September 11. They noted his leadership, political foresight, and struggle for the constitutional, legal, religious, cultural, and human rights of Muslims of the Indian subcontinent, which culminated in the creation of Pakistan.
Call for dialogue and the rule of law
As Dawn reports, Zardari called on citizens to be guided by the principles of discipline and perseverance. According to him, these qualities should serve as guidelines for strengthening national unity and the stability of state institutions.
The president also stressed the importance of the democratic process. He stated that the country’s sustainable development is impossible without ensuring the equality of all citizens before the law. Zardari called on political forces to overcome their current differences and address urgent problems through dialogue, the rule of law, and constitutional mechanisms.

In his view, Jinnah’s life is an example of perseverance, discipline, and confidence in one’s purpose. Zardari also noted that his qualities can serve as guidance in responding to security, political, social, cultural, and economic challenges, as well as climate emergencies.
Vision of a welfare state
In his address, Shehbaz Sharif called Jinnah an outstanding leader who changed the course of history and, despite difficult circumstances, paved the way for the creation of an independent state for the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent.
The prime minister stated that building Pakistan as a developed welfare state remains the main goal of Quaid-i-Azam’s political legacy. According to Sharif, the best way to honor Jinnah’s memory is to work together for national unity, social harmony, and economic stability.
