The President of Romania identified the owner of the drone found in Constanța and warned of consequences
Romanian President Nicușor Dan held an extended working meeting following the drone incident at the port of Constanța and placed full blame for the explosion on the Russian Federation.
The head of state emphasized that the appearance of unmanned aerial vehicles near the Romanian coast is a direct consequence of the war of aggression being waged by Moscow.
Thanks to the prompt collection of information and coordination among agencies, an evacuation was carried out in a timely manner in the emergency zone, which prevented casualties or significant damage to port infrastructure.
“The security of this region is a priority for me, and I understand why people are asking how safe it is to travel to the Black Sea right now,” the president said in an official statement.
The head of state assured citizens that the authorities are fully in control of the current situation and are responding promptly to all challenges in the coastal zone.
During a meeting with representatives of defense agencies, the Romanian leader clearly outlined the political and legal implications of this security incident.
“Responsibility for such incidents lies with Russia as the country that initiated the aggression. Ukraine, on the other hand, has become a victim of this aggression and is defending itself. For cases such as the one that occurred in the port of Constanta, there are special protocols in place with clearly defined actions for each agency. I want to emphasize that in this situation, all prescribed procedures were followed,” the president stressed.
He also added that the Ukrainian side had warned its partners in advance about the loss of control over the aircraft due to the operation of Russian electronic warfare systems.
