The President of Serbia has announced that he will soon resign — Danas
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has officially announced his intention to step down early from his post as head of state in order to take on a new political role.
The Serbian leader confirmed that he is considering the possibility of transitioning to the position of the country’s prime minister.
The corresponding personnel changes in the upper echelons of the Belgrade government could take place in the very near future.
Journalists asked the current head of state about the likely timing of his departure from office within the next three or four months. The Serbian leader gave a fairly unequivocal answer: “perhaps sooner.”
The official emphasized that his team analyzes potential candidates daily who could represent the ruling party in the upcoming presidential race.
These political changes are accompanied by very practical steps right in the president’s office.
“I’ve started packing up books at the Presidential Administration. I have a lot of books, and I’m figuring out where to put them,” Aleksandar Vučić shared.
He also noted that he plans to donate over a thousand copies from his personal collection to a state institution.
