President Tinubu congratulates winners of by-elections in Nigeria — Premium Times Nigeria
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu congratulated the winners of parliamentary by-elections held in the states of Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta. As Premium Times Nigeria reports, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won four of the five seats, while one went to a candidate from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Voting results
APC candidates Kallamu Mai Jamaa won in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye federal constituency in Gombe State, Husseini Datti in the Dawakin-Kudu constituency of Kano State, Okolosi Atohr in the Udu constituency of Delta State, and Yakubu Ali in the Dass constituency of Bauchi State.
APM candidate Adamu Yakubu won the seat in the Sakwa constituency in Bauchi State. The president's congratulatory message was released on Sunday in Abuja by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

President's statement
Tinubu said that, in his view, the victories of APC candidates demonstrate Nigerians' confidence in the party's ability to govern the country effectively and ensure shared prosperity. He also urged citizens to continue supporting the APC and not to succumb to what he described as political opportunism.
The president called on the elected candidates to justify voters' trust through proper and effective representation, and on other participants in the race to accept the voting results and continue participating in the democratic process. Tinubu thanked voters and security agencies for maintaining order during the elections, and Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting the vote.
At the same time, he urged INEC to take into account the shortcomings identified and strengthen preparations for the general elections scheduled for January and February 2027.
