Cargo route Fujairah–Abu Dhabi launched in UAE — The National
In the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Rail Freight and AD Ports Group have launched a direct freight rail connection between terminals in Fujairah and Abu Dhabi’s Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD). The new route enables cargo arriving in Fujairah to be transported directly to the industrial zone in Abu Dhabi.
As The National reports, customers at ICAD will be able to clear customs, undergo inspections and receive cargo closer to their warehouses, production sites and markets.

Abu Dhabi Industrial City has been assigned a UN/LOCODE, a geographical code used to identify ports, airports and terminals. This will allow shipping lines, freight forwarders and cargo owners to book delivery directly to ICAD as a destination and customs clearance point.

The service is intended for importers, exporters, manufacturers, distributors and logistics operators working in Abu Dhabi. The companies said the route is expected to reduce dependence on road transport, shorten the distance to the final delivery point and make logistics chains more efficient.
Cooperation between the railway and port operator
Etihad Rail Freight CEO Omar Alsebeai said that combining rail connectivity with an inland cargo hub offering customs services should simplify logistics processes and reduce the time between a vessel’s arrival and final delivery. AD Ports Group Ports Cluster CEO Saif Al Mazrouei said the partnership would give businesses greater flexibility in managing supply chains.
In April, Etihad Rail carried out the UAE’s first commercial rail transport of cars from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi, delivering a batch of Nissan vehicles in cooperation with dealer Al Masaood Automobiles.
