In the United States, at the White House in Washington, Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to build constructive relations of strategic stability based on respect, fairness and reciprocity. This was reported by ECNS.
Meeting at the White House
According to the publication, the agreements were reached during a tea gathering attended by Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, as well as Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump. The Chinese leader noted that this was his first state visit to the United States in 11 years.
According to Xi Jinping, the sides gave new substance to the vision of China-U.S. relations. He also stated that mutually beneficial results had been achieved in the economic and trade spheres, which, in his view, would be positively received by the citizens of both countries and the international community.

Xi Jinping called the prospects for relations between China and the United States bright, while noting that difficulties and challenges would arise along the way. He expressed readiness to open a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations together with Trump.

According to him, the sides held an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations, as well as key international and regional issues, and achieved positive results. The U.S. president said he expected to maintain close contact with Xi Jinping.
Visit to the National Archives
After the tea gathering, the Xi and Trump couples visited the U.S. National Archives, where they were told about the institution and its exhibitions. Xi Jinping stated that China and the United States have different histories, cultures, social systems and development paths, but the peoples of both countries aspire to a better life.
The Chinese president stressed the need to recognize differences, deepen mutual understanding, learn from one another, expand cooperation and properly manage disagreements. In his view, this would contribute to the stable and long-term development of relations between the two countries.
