The President of Slovenia has been accused of befriending Russian spies

The Parliamentary Committee on Security has accused Slovenian President Natasha Pirc-Musar of having ties to Russian intelligence. However, she denies this.

On August 19, the
parliamentary committee requested a meeting next week with the Slovenian intelligence service SOVA. It wants to receive a report on possible ties between Pirc-Musar and Russian intelligence, the publication reports.

Slovenian lawmaker Žan Mahnič called on the government to stop providing the president with intelligence and security reports. He fears she may have ties to a Russian spy network.

The investigation followed reports about Pirc-Musar’s longtime friend, Viktoria Kryvolutska, a Slovenian citizen of Russian origin.

In late July, the president was hospitalized with a broken collarbone following a car accident. Kryvolutska was also in Pirc-Musar’s official vehicle at the time.

Earlier this week, local media reported that Kryvolutska had close ties to Roman Jeglich, a disgraced former Slovenian intelligence officer. He fled to Russia in the mid-1990s.

Krivolutska later confirmed that she had had a romantic relationship with Jeglič and had lived with him in Russia for several years. However, she said she had not been in contact with him for over 15 years.

This was reported by TVP.

As a reminder, a 27-year-old Australian and Russian citizen was arrested in Australia on charges of attempting to pass information about the Ukrainian military to individuals linked to Russian intelligence. According to ABC News, the man previously served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Anna Chapman, a well-known Russian intelligence officer who once worked undercover in the United Kingdom and the United States, has been appointed to a new position. She has been appointed director of the Museum of Russian Intelligence, which showcases the history and achievements of Russia’s espionage operations against Western countries.
