Protesters interrupted Defense Minister Hegset’s speech in Congress – The Guardian

A hearing in the U.S. Congress featuring the Pentagon chief was temporarily suspended due to a protest that erupted during the secretary’s opening remarks. One of the activists, who was being escorted out of the room by security, shouted slogans claiming that the American people did not want war with Iran.

The Guardian reported this, noting that the incident occurred amid a discussion of U.S. military strategy.

Committee Chairman Roger Wicker called for order, reminding those present of the rules of conduct during official events. He emphasized that, despite respect for free speech and the First Amendment, any attempts to disrupt the work of the legislative body would be immediately stopped. After the disruptors were removed from the room, the hearings continued as usual.

During the hearings, General Dan Kane, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that Kremlin leader Putin is assisting Iran in waging war.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Russia on Monday, April 27, to meet with Putin.
