Putin is in no hurry to hold talks with Zelenskyy; the Presidential Administration has cited the reason
The Kremlin is currently showing no real willingness to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy or to end the war. Despite statements about an alleged desire for peace, Russia uses such signals primarily as a tool for information influence. The Center for Countering Disinformation explains that such statements are aimed at creating the illusion of openness to negotiations, while Moscow is not taking any real steps to end the war. In this way, the Kremlin is attempting to influence the international community and weaken support for Ukraine.
This was stated by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), citing his post on Telegram.
He explained that immediately after mentioning “readiness,” Peskov deliberately stated a condition that Ukraine would not accept.
"Peskov is lying. Because Putin is not ready to meet with Zelenskyy, since after Peskov’s words about ‘readiness,’ he immediately put forward unrealistic conditions, hinting at a withdrawal of troops from Donbas, which will not happen,” Kovalenko writes.
The head of the Center for Political and Strategic Studies emphasized that Russia plans to continue the war and does not need peace. The Kremlin’s latest statement is merely a message intended solely for a Western audience.
"They are simply pretending again to the Western audience that they are ready to end the war, but this is a lie," he concluded.
