Putin signed a law imposing prison sentences for falsified medical certificates
Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin has signed a law that establishes criminal liability for the forgery and circulation of medical certificates attesting to the absence of dangerous diseases.
The document adds a new article to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and provides for punishment not only for the production of fake documents, but also for their sale, purchase, storage, or transportation. Depending on the circumstances, offenders may face prison terms ranging from several years to eight years, as well as substantial fines.
The most severe punishment is reserved for organized groups or cases where the use of forged certificates has led to mass infection of people or other serious consequences.
