Putin promised China uninterrupted supplies of energy and resources
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin stated that Russia is ready to provide China with “uninterrupted” supplies of oil, gas, and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
He made this statement following talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing.
According to Putin, Moscow and Beijing have allegedly built a “robust system of mutual trade,” which, he claims, is protected from external influence and negative factors.
“Our country is one of the largest exporters of oil, natural gas—including liquefied natural gas—and coal to China. We are, of course, ready to continue reliably ensuring uninterrupted supplies of all these types of fuel to the rapidly growing Chinese market,” Putin stated.
Reports from economic research institutes indicate that last year Russia supplied tens of millions of tons of energy resources to China, including oil, coal, and natural gas, with pipeline deliveries and LNG. At the same time, the structure of exports changed: some items declined, while certain metals and raw materials, on the contrary, saw an increase in volume.
In particular, there were reports of a decline in oil and coal shipments, while exports of certain metals, such as aluminum and nickel, showed growth.
Following U.S. President Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin arrived in China for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
During his visit to China, Vladimir Putin had hoped to secure Beijing’s approval for the construction of a new large-scale gas pipeline, but the talks ended without a result.
