Iranian army spokesperson announces reward of up to $40,000 for US troops — Jerusalem Post

In Iran, army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia announced a possible reward of up to $40,000 for capturing or killing a US servicemember. As The Jerusalem Post reports, the statement was made in a video circulating on social media.

Reward terms

According to Akraminia, the initiative emerged after people who wanted to join the fight against the United States offered financial assistance because they were unable to fight personally. He claimed that an Iranian citizen who captures a US servicemember or hands over their remains to the authorities could receive about $20,000.

The spokesperson also said that for a woman, this amount would double to $40,000. He expressed the view that the reward could also be offered to citizens of other countries in the region if they are able to capture or neutralize a US servicemember.

Previous statement and IRGC letter

This is not the first reward mentioned in the report for actions against US military personnel. In August, Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief Amir Hatami announced a $30,000 reward for those who capture or kill an American soldier.

Earlier the same day, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps addressed US voters ahead of the US midterm elections. In a 25-page open letter, the IRGC urged them to reject the policies of US President Donald Trump, including support for Israel and foreign wars. IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi said he did not expect a change in the US administration's behavior before the elections, but suggested that voters might hear this appeal.
