Denver restaurant Sap Sua says Zionists are not welcome
Vietnamese restaurant Sap Sua in Denver, Colorado, United States, has come under public criticism following an exchange of comments on Instagram. The establishment’s account stated that Jews are welcome at the restaurant, but Zionists are not. As The Jerusalem Post reports, the dispute began after the restaurant published a post with a pro-Palestinian slogan.
Comments from the restaurant’s account
Instagram users asked whether Jewish and Israeli visitors would feel safe at the establishment. In response, the Sap Sua account wrote that the restaurant is open to everyone except people who support the Israeli regime, described in the post as genocidal, apartheid-based, and ethno-supremacist.
The Jewish Colorado Alliance and StopDontShop, an initiative of StopAntisemitism, shared a screenshot of the restaurant’s comment. In a joint statement, they urged Colorado residents not to visit Sap Sua and said that excluding Zionists could effectively apply to the overwhelming majority of Jews. The organizations also questioned whether such a policy complies with the state’s anti-discrimination laws.

Co-owner’s statement
Co-owner and co-chef Anthony Ny Nguyen responded to a comment about the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. He stated that nine Israelis were dancing and celebrating. The Jerusalem Post characterized this statement as an antisemitic conspiracy theory.
StopAntisemitism called on Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser to examine whether the establishment’s position violates the state’s anti-discrimination laws. Sap Sua did not respond to The Jerusalem Post’s request for comment by the time of publication.
