Russia has become the main recipient of luxury cars stolen in Canada

Russia has become the top destination for luxury cars stolen in Canada.

Following the imposition of Western sanctions and a reduction in legal imports of luxury vehicles, international criminal groups began meeting the demand for them in Russia, according to The New York Times.

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the largest number of cars stolen in Canada were found in Russia. From February 2024 to July 2026, 4,798 reports of such vehicles were registered in the Interpol database.

Toyota Tundra, Ford F-150, and Dodge Ram pickup trucks, as well as expensive Land Rover SUVs, are in particularly high demand. Stolen vehicles are primarily smuggled to Russia via the UAE, as well as Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Lithuania.

According to law enforcement officials, the vehicles are often stolen to fulfill specific orders. Every week, Canadian border officials find dozens of stolen cars at the Port of Montreal that are being smuggled out of the country in containers.
