Rodríguez says talks with US on sanctions and elections continue
Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez said her government continues to work with the United States on lifting sanctions and creating conditions for the electoral process. She did not name a date for the vote, noting that elections will take place when appropriate conditions are created.

As reported by Anadolu Agency, Rodríguez made the statement near the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas alongside US Energy Secretary Chris Wright. He arrived in Venezuela as Washington and Caracas seek to deepen cooperation in the energy sector.
According to the Venezuelan government, Rodríguez and Wright discussed investment mechanisms, joint projects and measures to increase capital inflows into the energy sector. Wright also held talks in Caracas with Venezuelan officials and energy companies on plans to increase oil production and attract foreign investment.

Oil companies’ plans
The visit followed a broader agreement between Washington and Caracas to increase oil production in Venezuela and encourage new investment in its energy industry. US company Chevron and Italy’s Eni also announced plans to expand operations in Venezuela.
The administration of US President Donald Trump has gradually eased some restrictions on the energy sector, seeking greater US involvement in Venezuela’s oil industry and increased investment. Trump told journalists in Washington that Venezuela is not yet ready for elections, while positively assessing Rodríguez’s work as interim president.
The electoral process is one of the key issues in Venezuela’s political transition following the removal of Nicolás Maduro at the beginning of the year. Rodríguez assumed leadership of the country on an interim basis as Caracas and Washington began talks on Venezuela’s political and economic future.
