Russians Abroad Voted Against United Russia — Euronews
During the elections to Russia’s State Duma — a state aggressor — voters abroad supported the New People party significantly more often than United Russia. Two independent exit polls at polling stations located at embassies and consulates in different countries recorded results that differed from the official voting results in Russia, Euronews reports.
Polling results abroad
The Vote Abroad project surveyed nearly 15,700 voters at 27 polling stations in 22 countries. According to its data, New People received 43% support, the Communist Party received 18.3%, and United Russia received 5.5%. In ten countries, including Armenia, Germany and Finland, United Russia did not clear the 5% threshold required to obtain seats in the State Duma.
Another exit poll, conducted by the opposition movement Vesna and the Progress project at 18 polling stations in 17 countries, recorded support for New People at 47.3%. The Communist Party received 19.2% in it, while United Russia received 2.8%. According to this poll, New People took first place at every polling station covered.
Official data and trust in the elections
Russia’s Central Election Commission reported that United Russia won nearly 58% of the vote within the country. According to its data, the Communist Party received 14%, the LDPR nearly 9%, and New People less than 8%.

Progress project director Ivan Zhdanov said that 83.5% of respondents who answered the question about trust completely or mostly do not trust the official results. He noted that votes cast abroad are unlikely to determine the composition of the State Duma, but they demonstrate different political sentiments among Russian citizens outside the country.
According to Vote Abroad, 63% of respondents rather do not trust or do not trust the results of the Russian elections at all. The poll’s organizers also reported calm voting abroad, while independent observers in Russia challenged Central Election Commission chair Ella Pamfilova’s claim that only two cases of ballot stuffing had been recorded in the country.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas called the elections another serious blow to Russian democracy and said she had proposed sanctions against individuals who facilitated voting in Ukraine’s territories temporarily occupied by Russia.
