Russian pranksters tricked an adviser to the Estonian president

Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus claimed to have spoken with Madis Roll, the Estonian president’s security adviser, while posing as the secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.

Following this, Russian propaganda began spreading claims that Ukraine and Estonia were allegedly coordinating strikes on Russian territory.

The Office of the President of Estonia confirmed that the fraudulent call took place back in May. At the same time, they emphasized that the adviser did not disclose any confidential information, and that the excerpts from the conversation published by Russian media were taken out of context.

Madis Roll himself stated that he had spoken only about support for Ukraine and cooperation to protect Estonia’s airspace from drones. According to him, Russian propaganda distorted the content of the conversation.

The President’s Office also reported that Estonian security agencies had been informed of the incident, and that officials from other Baltic countries had previously received similar calls.
