Russian military personnel took part in secret Chinese exercises — Reuters
In 2025, Russian military personnel took part in secret exercises on Chinese territory, which were personally approved by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov. Reuters reported this, citing two European officials and internal Russian documents.
According to the agency, the Russian delegation visited military facilities of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, where it underwent training, including on radiation, chemical, and biological protection. The documents also mention training in chemical and radiological reconnaissance, as well as the protection of military infrastructure.
Reuters notes that the Russian delegation was led by Colonel General Rustam Muradov, and at least four high-ranking Russian and Chinese generals were involved in the exercises.
The European Union has confirmed that such exercises did indeed take place and is assessing their implications. Meanwhile, China has called the reports of military cooperation unfounded, and Russia has stated that the leaked documents are “nonsense.”
