The Russian port of Ust-Luga has resumed oil shipments following drone attacks

The Russian port of Ust-Luga has resumed oil shipments following drone attacks

The Russian seaport of Ust-Luga, located on the Baltic Sea, has resumed crude oil shipments after a long hiatus.

Bloomberg reports this.

Disruptions at the strategic facility were caused by successful attacks by Ukrainian drones on the region’s energy infrastructure.

According to vessel tracking data, the first vessel to begin loading crude oil after the hiatus was an Aframax-class tanker named “The Jewel.”

“According to the agency, the Aframax-class tanker ‘The Jewel’ began loading crude oil on Saturday,” Bloomberg reports.

Operations at the port of Ust-Luga, one of the key export hubs for Russian energy resources, were effectively paralyzed at the end of March.

This was a direct result of the intensification of strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian oil refining and transshipment facilities.

Ukrainian drones specifically targeted energy facilities along Russia’s Baltic coast, forcing the aggressor to temporarily halt export operations.

Systematic disruption of the occupiers’ logistics chains allows for a significant reduction in the aggressor country’s profits from the sale of raw materials.

Despite the resumption of operations by some tankers, experts note that the port’s infrastructure requires a thorough inspection following the attacks.

The Russian side is attempting to restore the facility to full operational capacity as quickly as possible due to the budget’s critical dependence on petrodollars.

As a reminder, an oil loading terminal was damaged in the Russian port of Ust-Luga following a UAV attack.

Drones also attacked the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation again.
