The much-hyped Russian electric car, Atom, has begun losing employees
The Russian company “Kama,” which is developing the “Atom” electric car, has run into financial difficulties. The company has begun delaying salary payments to employees and laying off staff.
According to media reports, in May, the delays affected about 150 employees, and by the end of June, the problem had spread to nearly the entire workforce of more than 1,200 people. Some employees have not been paid for over a month.
The company attributed the situation to a lack of funding due to a delay in receiving part of the loan proceeds that were supposed to be used to launch mass production of the electric car. At the same time, “Kama” stated that it does not plan to abandon the project.
Development of the “Atom” has been underway since 2021, and the total investment in the project was estimated at tens of billions of rubles. The car was previously positioned as Russia’s first mass-produced electric vehicle.
This is according to reports from Russian propaganda media.
Russia wants to sell gasoline based on whether a car’s license plate number is even or odd.
Earlier, the Russian presidential administration sent special “recommendations” to state-run and pro-government media outlets regarding how exactly to report on the fuel shortage in the country.
The fuel crisis in Russia is also intensifying: gasoline is running out at gas stations and lines are growing.
Russia has allowed the sale of lower-quality gasoline due to the fuel crisis.
