Romania has closed the Russian Consulate General in Constanța — Romania Journal
Romanian President Nicușor Dan has officially announced the closure of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Constanța.
This was reported by the Romania Journal.
At the same time, the head of state decided to declare Russia’s diplomatic representative persona non grata. Bucharest’s radical steps were a direct response to yet another act of aggression by the Kremlin in the border region.
The impetus for this tough decision was a nighttime incident in which a Russian attack drone crashed into a residential area of the Romanian city of Galați.
The enemy drone’s impact on a ten-story building sparked a fire, and two civilians were injured.
The injured were promptly hospitalized, and special services evacuated over two hundred people.
The Romanian leader placed full responsibility for the consequences of the attack on the leadership of the Russian Federation. The head of state emphasized that the country will not allow its own security to be ignored due to the Kremlin’s military actions.
Romanian authorities view this incident as one of the most serious security challenges since the start of the full-scale conflict.
