Romanian F-16s took off to monitor targets near the border with Ukraine
On Friday morning, Romania scrambled F-16 fighter jets to track air targets that had approached its border with Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense reported that on September 11, at approximately 4:15 a.m., a radar surveillance system detected a group of aerial targets about 16 km north of Vilkovo in the Odesa region. It is worth noting that at the same time, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of Russian drones toward the Odesa region.
The National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, which sent out a RO-Alert warning to residents in the northern part of Tulcea County at 4:36 a.m.
Two F-16 fighter jets of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86th Air Base in Borci to monitor the situation.
The air raid alert in the northern part of Tulcea County ended at 6:30 a.m. No violations of Romanian airspace were reported.
