A Romanian F-16 shot down a Russian drone for the first time
On July 24, an F-16 fighter jet of the Romanian Air Force shot down a drone that had entered the country’s airspace for the first time. The incident marked the first time a Romanian F-16 was used in combat against an intruding drone.
This was reported by the country’s president, Nicușor Dan.
According to Dan, the incident occurred on the morning of July 24 at around 11:00 a.m.
The Romanian president noted that the area was uninhabited, so the pilot was able to open fire without any risk.
“Currently, teams of experts from the relevant agencies are surveying the area to determine all the circumstances of the incident,” Dan added on the social media platform X.
