Sánchez spoke out against the EU's double standards regarding Ukraine and the Middle East
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that there are double standards within the European Union regarding the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
He made these remarks during the EU summit in Cyprus.
According to Sánchez, his initiative to suspend the Association Agreement with Israel due to the war in the region did not receive support among member states. In particular, Italy and Germany opposed it.
The Spanish prime minister warned that the lack of a unified position weakens the EU’s authority and undermines its political legitimacy.
He also emphasized that this situation creates the impression of double standards, as the EU reacts differently to violations of international law.
According to Sánchez, this could negatively impact the EU’s ability to uphold the principles of international law, particularly in the context of supporting Ukraine.
