Serbia has denied any Ukrainian involvement in the attempted sabotage of the gas pipeline to Hungary

Serbia has denied any Ukrainian involvement in the attempted sabotage of the gas pipeline to Hungary

Serbia's Military-Security Agency has officially stated that there is no evidence of Ukraine's involvement in the planning of an explosion on the strategic gas pipeline leading to Hungary.

This was reported by Kurir.

The agency’s director, Juro Jovanic, called reports of an alleged “Ukrainian trace” disinformation aimed at discrediting the Serbian armed forces.

According to the head of Serbian intelligence, widespread rumors that Serbian military personnel allegedly found Ukrainian explosives to frame Kyiv are completely baseless.

“The disinformation suggests that the Serbian Armed Forces and their servicemen are working for some other or third party by finding Ukrainian explosives and accusing Ukraine of this. This is not true,” emphasized Juro Jovanic.

The agency’s experts determined that the markings on the discovered hazardous items indicate their American origin; however, this does not constitute proof of a specific country’s involvement.

Jovanich stressed that the country of origin of the explosives in no way determines the perpetrator or the instigator of the crime.

In his speech, the agency director also posed a rhetorical question regarding the possibility of provocations by other geopolitical actors.

“Some might say, ‘Perhaps the United States of America is orchestrating something like this right now?’” he noted, pointing out the absurdity of hasty accusations based solely on the origin of the materials.

The situation surrounding the “Balkan Stream” gas pipeline has escalated ahead of important parliamentary elections in Hungary, scheduled for April 12, 2026.

The Hungarian opposition has already expressed suspicions that the incident involving explosives could be a “false flag” operation aimed at boosting the incumbent government’s approval ratings.

As a reminder, Orbán convened the National Security Council following an attempted sabotage on a gas pipeline in Serbia.
