Sharif and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor call for harmony between centre and province
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, during a meeting in Islamabad on September 15, stressed the need to intensify efforts to promote harmony between the federal centre and the province and address the problems faced by residents.
As Dawn reports, the participants also discussed the overall political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, law and order issues, and matters of mutual interest. Kashmir Affairs Minister Amir Muqam and Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah took part in the talks.
Prime minister's statement
According to the Prime Minister's Office, Sharif reiterated that the federal government would continue working for the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the welfare of its residents.

Disputes between the province and the centre
PTI, which is in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in opposition at the federal level, has disagreements with the central government, including over funding and military operations in the province.
The party is also seeking the release of its founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, who has been in prison since 2023. PTI has held protests for this purpose and accused the federal government, as well as the authorities of Punjab and Sindh provinces, of suppressing mobilisation campaigns.
The day before, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that during a trip to Lahore he was abducted by authorities' representatives and later left on the roadside. The provincial government denied the claims. Afridi arrived in Lahore to mobilise supporters ahead of PTI's planned September 27 protest march to Islamabad.
