Sharif tells Saudi crown prince of efforts to de-escalate
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said during a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that Pakistan would continue efforts to reduce regional tensions and establish peace. The conversation took place on September 13 amid recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan’s statement
As Dawn reports, citing the Office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Sharif condemned attacks on Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic infrastructure.
The Pakistani prime minister also expressed concern that the Houthis’ actions threaten regional peace and security and could further disrupt the global economy and energy supplies. He said he would continue working on de-escalation together with Chief of the Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, as well as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

Sharif also praised the Saudi crown prince’s leadership during the crisis and conveyed his wishes to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
Agreement on contacts
For his part, Mohammed bin Salman thanked Pakistan for its support and efforts toward regional peace and stability. According to the Pakistani prime minister’s office, the interlocutors agreed to maintain close contact and expressed hope for a personal meeting in the near future.
