Brigitte Macron lost a court case against a journalist who referred to her as her husband

France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, lost a court case to journalist Natasha Ray, who claimed that the French president’s wife was allegedly born a man. The Paris Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the journalist in the defamation case.

The court concluded that most of Rey’s controversial statements did not meet the legal definition of defamation.

Natasha Rey claimed that Brigitte Macron was allegedly born a man and was previously named Jean-Michel. Her statements became the subject of legal proceedings. In 2024, Natasha Rey and blogger Amandine Roy were found guilty of defamation. At that time, they were fined €13,500.

However, in July 2025, the court acquitted Rey. The judges concluded that most of her statements did not meet the legal definition of defamation.

This was reported with reference to Rey’s attorney.
