Six-year-old Chinese girl breaks Rubik’s Cube world record twice — ECNS
Six-year-old Lian Yunyi in China set the women’s world record for the average time in solving a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube twice in three days. At competitions in Wuhan and Guangzhou, her average results were 4.52 and 4.27 seconds respectively, ECNS reports.
Two records in three days
On September 12, Lian Yunyi set a new record with an average result of 4.52 seconds at the WCA Wuhan Danqiu Rubik's Cube Competition in Wuhan. Two days later, she surpassed her own achievement at the WCA Guangzhou Speedcubing Competition IV in Guangzhou, where her average time was 4.27 seconds.

Following this result, Lian became the only female speedcuber in the world whose average time for solving a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube is below 4.5 seconds.
Training and algorithms
The girl has mastered more than 1,300 algorithms for solving the puzzle and trains for two to three hours every day. Her mother, Lin Yangxi, said that the practice helped her daughter improve her concentration, memory, logical thinking and spatial perception. According to her, Lian used to be very reserved, but now feels confident anywhere.
