Israel’s Shin Bet security service is expected to arrive in Dubai, UAE, in the near future to implement the necessary security measures for the resumption of air service by Israeli airlines. According to a source at Israel’s Ministry of Transport, flights are expected to resume on Friday after an attempted hijacking of a flydubai aircraft operating a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

Preparations for the resumption of flights

The Jerusalem Post reports this, citing a source at Israel’s Ministry of Transport. Following Wednesday’s incident, flydubai temporarily suspended all flights to and from Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

According to the publication’s source, Emirates and Etihad Airways are also considering increasing the number of flights between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.

Flights for passengers from Dubai

Israel’s Ministry of Transport plans to issue an official announcement regarding flights for passengers whose departures from Dubai were canceled. This is to happen after the relevant approvals are received from Israel’s Ministry of Defense.

Transport Minister Miri Regev also called on Shin Bet to examine reports of the pilot, who is linked to the attempted hijacking, possibly holding Omani citizenship. flydubai’s agreement on flights to Israel stipulates that pilots must be from countries that have normalized relations with Israel; Oman is not among such states.
