Switzerland: Federal Council encourages employment of persons with S protection status
The Swiss Federal Council has adopted a decision that simplifies the employment procedure for persons with S status. Under the new conditions, work permits are no longer required, as employers can simply submit online notifications of the start or end of employment via the EasyGov.swiss portal. This decision aims to reduce administrative barriers and create more opportunities for Ukrainians who have been granted temporary protection in the country.

The changes will take effect on December 1, 2025. From October 23, 2025, persons in need of protection and receiving social assistance may be required to participate in professional integration or reintegration measures. This rule already applies to recognized refugees and persons with temporary permits, and failure to comply with this obligation may result in a reduction in social benefits.
These changes are important for improving the living conditions of refugees and helping to integrate them into Swiss society and the economy, thus increasing the opportunities for Ukrainians to succeed in their new country.
