Switzerland will join the agreement on a special tribunal for Russia

Switzerland has notified the Council of Europe of its intention to join the agreement establishing a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. Specifically, this refers to an international mechanism designed to ensure legal accountability for the crime of aggression related to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced this on the social media platform X.

“Switzerland has informed the Council of Europe of its readiness to join the expanded partial agreement on the establishment of a Special Tribunal,” Sybiga wrote.

He thanked Swiss partners for this principled and strong step.

The minister noted that Switzerland plays a special role in defending the principles and norms of international law, and its decision is of immense significance for the entire international community.

“Justice for the crime of aggression against Ukraine is inevitable, and the tribunal is no longer an abstract idea. It is becoming a reality,” the head of Ukrainian diplomacy emphasized.

Additionally, Denmark has joinedthe effort to establish a special tribunal against Russia.

Earlier, Finland joined the effort to establish a special tribunal against Russia.

Austria has officially confirmed its intention to join the Enlarged Partial Agreement on the Special Tribunal regarding Russia’s crime of aggression against Ukraine. 

France has joined the agreement on the special tribunal regarding Russia’s aggression
