Switzerland has reported a significant increase in cyber threats linked to AI

Swiss telecommunications provider Swisscom has released a report noting a sharp increase in the complexity of cyberattacks over the past year. The report identifies artificial intelligence, geopolitical tensions, and vulnerabilities in software supply chains as key risk factors.

Swissinfo reports on the transformation of digital threats into a strategic challenge for the stability of companies and states.

According to experts, the use of AI is becoming a catalyst for danger, as it allows attackers to create more sophisticated methods of attack and disinformation. The report pays particular attention to state-sponsored attacks, as well as the risks of hybrid warfare in the context of global digitalization. Experts warn that reliance on cloud platforms and third-party code without proper oversight leads to a loss of digital sovereignty.

They see a separate threat in the vulnerability of critical infrastructure, particularly energy supply and industrial facilities, where cyber interference can have real physical consequences. Against the backdrop of Russia’s aggressive cyber policy, Switzerland is calling on businesses to ensure full transparency in data and systems management. Trust in suppliers is no longer a sufficient safeguard, so cybersecurity must become a priority in strategic planning.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe has launched an official investigation into suspected espionage activities following a massive breach of accounts on the Signal messaging app, which affected over 300 people.

Russian hackers launched a large-scale cyber operation aimed at hijacking user profiles on the popular messaging apps Signal and WhatsApp.

German Parliament President Julia Klöckner fell victim to a large-scale phishing attack, as a result of which the attackers gained access to her account on the Signal messaging app.
