Sweden has warned of a possible jet fuel shortage

Sweden has warned of a potential aviation fuel shortage due to the consequences of the war in the Middle East. Officials in the country caution that the situation on the global energy market could impact the aviation industry.

This was stated by Swedish Energy Minister Eba Busch, as quoted by SVT.

According to the minister, this warning is based on an assessment by the Energy Agency.

"We want to warn of the risk of a jet fuel shortage," said Eba Busch.

The minister believes there is a range of measures the government can take if the crisis deepens.

"We need to adapt our measures as the situation develops, and we will provide updates on an ongoing basis," added Busch.

According to her, the first step involves early warnings, recommendations, and informing the public about what to expect, as well as voluntary measures to reduce fuel consumption.

In the second stage, the level of preparedness is increased through mandatory measures, and only in the third stage, when the crisis becomes a reality, will rationing become relevant, the minister emphasized.

In turn, Carolina Asserup, Director General of the Energy Agency, stated that the availability of gasoline and diesel fuel is not under threat—neither in the short term nor in the long term.

The risk of introducing rationing for gasoline and diesel fuel is low. But the situation is different when it comes to aviation fuel, she noted.

"In the worst-case scenario, we may eventually have to consider rationing. But that is far in the future—not here and now," Asserup said.

As is known, the war in Iran has raised concerns about the operations of airlines in Europe due to the likelihood of a fuel shortage, as significant volumes of fuel were previously sourced from the Middle East.

Recall that Swedenmay introduce fuel rationing due to the war with Iran.

Iran stated that a possible ceasefire in the war with the U.S. would only make sense if the naval blockade were lifted and Israel ceased hostilities.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington is not setting strict deadlines for achieving a ceasefire or resuming negotiations with Iran.

Prior to this, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since it was established between Washington and Tehran. According to Trump, there have been numerous incidents that cast doubt on Iran’s compliance with the ceasefire agreements.

Trumpexpressed his willingness to meet personally with Iran’s new leadership.
