Xi Jinping names four principles for resolving the Palestinian question
Chinese President Xi Jinping, during talks with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan in Beijing, outlined four principles that, he said, should be observed to resolve the Palestinian question. This was reported by ECNS.
Political settlement
Xi Jinping named support for a political settlement as the first principle. He said that the two-state solution is the right direction and that Palestine and Israel should resume peace talks. He said the goal of such efforts is to establish an independent Palestinian state as soon as possible.
The Chinese leader identified as the second principle an approach under which Palestinians should govern Palestine. According to him, this principle should be observed in matters of governing the West Bank and the post-war reconstruction of Gaza.
Humanitarian issues and international law
The third principle, according to Xi Jinping, is adherence to humanitarian principles. He said that the international community, including the UN Security Council, should effectively fulfill its duties to protect civilians, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and stop humanitarian catastrophes.

The Chinese president named fairness and justice as the fourth principle. He called for compliance with international law, addressing both the consequences and root causes of the problem, and taking practical steps toward a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.
Positions of China and Jordan
Speaking about the situation in the Middle East, Xi Jinping said that China supports a comprehensive ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, as well as political and diplomatic methods of resolving disputes. He also stressed the need to respect the sovereignty and security of Jordan and other countries in the region.
King Abdullah II said that Jordan appreciates what he described as China’s impartial position on Middle East affairs and its support for the just cause of Arab countries. He noted that Jordan is ready to maintain close communication with China and continue efforts to reduce tensions.
