Xi Jinping calls for high-quality construction of China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway
Chinese President Xi Jinping, during talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, called for ensuring the high-quality construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway. ECNS reports.

Xi Jinping described the railway as a major transport artery that embodies the aspirations of the region's peoples for development.
Sadyr Japarov stated that Kyrgyzstan is ready to actively advance the construction of the project. According to him, the railway should become a “steel Silk Road” of the new era and a new link of friendship between the two countries.

Route and project status
Construction of the railway, which began at the end of 2024, is ongoing. ECNS calls the project a flagship within China’s Belt and Road Initiative and a strategic connection between China and Central Asia.
The route is to begin in Kashgar, located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwestern China. It will then run through Kyrgyzstan’s mountainous terrain to Uzbekistan.
